You may wonder where The BordererS have been all these months....

Well, 2005 ended with the band performing in front of 400,000 at the Xmas Pageant & Carols by Candlelight in Adelaide followed by a headline show at New Year's Eve in Fed Square Melbourne. (This was a real highlight in the band's career)

In 2006 saw the BordererS perform at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, the Port Fairy & Blue Mountains Festival, the Australian Tattoo in Bendigo, Caboolture Country Music Festival plus many many more.....................

The BordererS have just won a Gospel Music Award at the World Unisong Awards in America for the song "Sinner & the Saint". Hallelujah & Praise the Lord!

Download a new song for Mother's Day ( Sun 14th May ) It's our free gift to YOU!
The track is called "Angel of Love" and is one of the tracks to be featured on "Songs From A Suitcase". The BordererS wrote it for Bulgaria's entry into the Eurovision Song Contest but Bulgaria decided to go for another classy song called "Boom Bang a Bang Oink". The song is about our feelings for our mothers, for what they've done for us. We're sure you'll be able to relate to the sentiments. Please feel free to download it & give it to your own mother for Mother's Day ( May 14th ) An idea! Why don't you get a picture of your mum and make that the Front Cover for the CD? Download here!

Record crowds ensure Urban Festival success. The BordererS a Festival Highlight!
Caboolture has stamped itself as one of Australia's major country music centres with more than 35,000 people attending this year's QUT Urban Country Music Festival at the weekend. Enthusiasts from all over Australia descended on the Queensland Sunshine Coast centre for the festival that featured artists performing on eight separate stages over four big days of activities. Caboolture's CBD took on a festive atmosphere as thousands of people swarmed through the Town Square and parklands for a huge array of free entertainment throughout the long weekend. One of the highlights of the festival was the opening night concert featuring The Borderers and the Bushwackers

The Borderers are in the studio recording a new album. They've gone a little bit country!
The BordererS were not intending to make a new album but somehow it's happened. The band took 2 years to make "Grace" but the new CD "Songs From A Suitcase" looks like it'll be wrapped up after 4 months. Jim & Alex realised that they had some songs left over from the "Grace" sessions. These were songs that didn't fit the direction of that album as they were in the country / celtic mould but with the addition of some recently written songs they suddenly found they had a new album. The BordererS have been getting great receptions at the Tamworth & Gympie Country Music Festivals so it was time to record an album catered to that market. The backing musicians will be called the "Celtic Cowboys" with Slim Jim Paterson on geetar, folks. If you can think of a country name for Alex, please let us know.

Watch an interview with The Borderers on CH. 10 this Sat the 8th April
If you live in regional Victoria you'll be able to see an interview that Jim did with "State Focus" this coming Sat ( 8th April ) on Network Ten. State Focus is a lifestyle/news program broadcast on Saturdays at 12 noon. It was an interesting experience for Jim as he was in the Ch. 10 studios in Melbourne whilst the interviewer was in Canberra. The program highlights the upcoming concerts at the Bendigo Entertainment Centre where the BordererS are a feature act in the Australian Federation Tattoo.

The BordererS Floor Las Vegas!
..I decided to revive "Mama Jazz" ( Mama Knew Best ) because it was hugely appropriate for one of the theme days at the huge "Vegas Dance Explosion" in Las Vegas last November. The theme was gangsters and flappers, so the choreography of "Mama Jazz" was perfect and it turned out to be a huge hit at the dance event.  It was a floor-filler every time the deejay played your music and a lot of new people became aware of The Borderers' music...

The Borderers on Belgium Radio
The BordererS have just been featured on American Music online in Belgium as part 1 of the special: From Oz Rock to Country. The show also featured Trisha Yearwood, *Dire Straits* & *Emmylou Harris*

New Years Eve in Melbourne
The BordererS are finishing 2005 by headlining the Federation Square concert in Melbourne on New Years Eve. 15,000 people are expected to join in the fun.

Carols by Candlelight
On Sun 18th Dec, the BordererS also performed at the Adelaide "Carols by Candlelight" for the 5th time. 30,000 were there to see the band kick up their heels.

The BordererS Perform In Front Of 350,000 People
It's been a busy year for the BordererS ( The most successful band from South Australia in the last 12 years ) They've been touring in the UK & Singapore and at the end of Nov '05 they performed in front of 350,000 people at the Adelaide Xmas Pageant.

The BordererS music helping to explore feelings
The song the "Dark Horse" from their new album "Grace" is being used by counsellors to help grieving couples. When a child dies suddenly the husband & wife react so differently. Women often need to talk and talk whilst the men often keep their feelings under close wraps. The "Dark Horse" is being used as a way of exploring how they can meet each other somewhere in between. The song also received extensive airplay on country music radio and the video was shown on the Country Music Channel on Foxtel.

Up, up and away
If you're flying internationally with Qantas. Listen to Colin Buchanan's Country Music Channel to hear the "Dark Horse".

Lastly. Jim & Alex have just been asked to write a song for the Eurovision Song Contest. Apparently, Bulgaria needed some outside help. They'll find out in a few weeks if their song has been accepted.

All the best

Jim
