The song is about people's inability to say sorry to one another on a personal and a public level.

The song idea transpired at a rehearsal in 1995 but we couldn't find the right words until 2001.

The music is classed as Tex Mex and was inspired by listening to Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville sing 'Blue Bayou'.

verse 1
You took away a part of me
I'm like a song without the harmony
Well the music's been written
But the words just seem so hard to say
Can you apologise to me
And understand we have some differences
Can't we learn from mistakes
As this shapes what our future will be

chorus
Hey, hey, hey, hey! Saying sorry isn't hard to say
Hey, hey, hey, hey! One little word's all it takes

verse 2
It's time to heal
And now we can recognise
That sorry costs nothing it's only a word that we say
You deserve respect
Starting over our relationship
Correcting the past, moving forward at last that's the way

chorus
Hey, hey, hey, hey! Saying sorry isn't hard to say
Hey, hey, hey, hey! One little word's all it takes
(can't you say you're sorry, can't you say the wrod
Can't you see I'm hurting, it's all I need to hear)
