| The music venues in Australia are under attack by property
developers who want to build houses in the inner cities close to these
establishments.
Richard Tonkin from 'The Gov' in Adelaide
asked if we could write a song about the situation and we immediately
thought of a gospel song we've been working on for years, called 'Keep
the Spirit Alive' and suddenly we knew what the words should be.
We asked a few other inspiring
muso's to help with this one.
verse 1
Without our dreams
What can we aim for and
What kind of road will we take?
If there's no music,
There's no inspiration
There's neither spark, nor a flame
sub
chorus
'Cos people are drawn, drawn to the life of a town
But if the rhythm has gone, then the heart of the city will die
(don't lose that rhythm 'cos inspiration's coming)
chorus
And something's got me
Something's got me and I'm inspired
(gotta keep the music, keep the music alive)
And something's got me,
Something got me and I'm inspired
(gotta keep the music, keep the music alive)
verse
2
Take away the West End
Take away your Broadway and
What have you left but a street
There's plenty of houses,
But a cultural ghost town
Where will the young people meet?
sub
chorus
'Cos people are drawn, drawn to the life of a town
(please those people!)
But if the rhythm has gone,
Then why will they still hang around?
(all those people, need to be uplifted)
chorus
outro
You've gotta have dreams, you've gotta have hope
You've gotta have dreams, you've gotta have hope |
