"The Gathering"
was recorded between Nov 98 & Jan 99 at the award winning
"Mixmasters" Studio in Adelaide.
Paul Gomersall, the English producer of
George Michael, Eric Clapton, Kate Bush & Sinead O'Connor
came over to mix it. Jim had met him at the Pacific Circle
Music Convention in Sydney, through an introduction by Buzz
Bidstrup, the former South Australian drummer for "The
Angels", and because they were both new to Sydney, they
struck up a friendship.
With the assistance of an ARTS S.A. grant
for Marketing & Recording, "The Borderers"
had more time in the studio to make the album polished and
competitive in a world market. The title track; "The
Gathering" was filmed and used as the new national ABC
ID logo, (la,la,la) it was also picked up by ABC Radio National.
The Borderers were also asked to co-write
the new Ch 7 ID logo in the style of one of the tracks off
the album called "The Battle Song". This is being
shown on the TV, Cinema and featured on the radio everyday
in Adelaide, and will soon be doing the same in Brisbane!
